Auditions take place at the Rhinebeck CENTER for the Performing Arts except where otherwise noted.

AUDITIONS:

We are conducting an early search for a boy ages 10-13 to play Billy Elliot in our summer musical. Please see role and production description from MTI below. Actor must be a strong actor, compelling singer, and trained in ballet.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

Billy Elliot

A boy who stumbles upon a ballet class and develops a passion for dance. To him, dance is a way to feel whole and free himself from the problems of life. He finds himself stuck between appeasing family and chasing his newfound love.

Gender: Male

Age: 10 to 13

Vocal range top: C5

Vocal range bottom: E3

PLOT: Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy's struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Follow Billy's journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community... and changes his life forever.

Please note regular open auditions will be held in late March for other roles.

The production runs June 20-July 12.
